INTRODUCTION BY OUR GRAND MAÎTRE

With its 300 members, the Commanderie brings together some of the most celebrated estates and châteaux on the left bank of the Gironde alongside the most important players in the Bordeaux wine trade, the merchants and brokers firms. We felt that the tens of thousands of Commandeurs d’Honneur around the world would appreciate having on-line access to the history of our brotherhood and details of all the events we organize, as well as a directory of our members. We also felt it was important to keep you regularly informed with a quarterly newsletter of developments in our vineyards and other news concerning Bordeaux left-bank wines.

Our Commanderie, which was revived in 1949 after centuries of inactivity, but has a history dating back to the Middle Ages, celebrated its 70th anniversary in June 2019. We may be the custodians of ancient traditions, but we are now resolutely and confidently forward-looking. We are sure that with the sustained efforts of our members, our Commanderie will continue to promote the great Medoc, Graves, Sauternes, and Barsac wines worldwide.
