Saint Vincent's Day

Vincent of Zaragoza, the patron saint of winegrowers, commemorated on 22nd January, was a 4th-century deacon and martyr. Saint Vincent's Day is one of the three major annual gatherings of our Commanderie. The location varies from year to year, either in the Medoc, in Graves, Sauternes or in Barsac, or even in Bordeaux, our regional capital.
The Saint Vincent's Day celebration is always friendly and relaxed, bringing together the people who work all year round in the vineyards, wineries and other estate services, or for merchants or brokers.
The festivities start with Mass, celebrated by the Archbishop of Bordeaux, who is also the Grand Chaplain of the Commanderie, followed by an investiture ceremony, honouring a number of new Commandeurs d'Honneur. Between 600 and 1,000 guests then enjoy lunch, in a friendly, festive atmosphere, so conducive for memorable wine tastings!
